Detroit Swindle announce Haloween Show at Freedom Mills
Following on from their sold-out show at last March in Leeds, ‘Detroit Swindle’ are set to return to Leeds once again on the 25th October. Hailing from Amsterdam, Electronic duo ‘Detroit Swindle’ have certainly cemented their status as forerunners in the European Music scene in recent years. Context Collaborative- The Last Supper
The pop-up introduction of fresh fruit laid in jelly flour, sprouting through threaded-bare bags, accompanied us as we passed ornamenting rustic displays which were lined with knock-off mayonnaise. Wired men sat as music boxes played in the scented carpet collective, reflected in shadowed abstraction, puppets of human object reaction. Lined voices in humming chairs; last of the rings, facing walls both imagined and imaged concrete; the sliding shows veined linen scared it fro

Getting to Know: Elder Island
Bred in Bristol, Elder Island are a genre-defying breath of fresh air. Somehow blending elements of indie, house, and countless other tones, they emanate a truly original sound. This is something that is becoming increasingly harder to come by in modern music. After teasing the alternative scene with two EPs and a limited but beautiful collection of tunes like “The Big Unknown” and “Bamboo”, the trio have finally recorded their debut full-length album: “The Omnitone Collecti

BROCKHAMPTON: GINGER Album Review
The world’s hardest working boyband BROCKHAMPTON are back in business. The young goofy boyband energy we associate with BROCKHAMPTON, has hit a turn in the road. Throughout the album opener, “NO HALO”, those hyped up youngster vibes have been replaced with soft spoken feelings. Perhaps last year’s departure of Ameer, which we all know about, but don’t necessarily want to be reminded of, has uncovered this more reserved and personal style to the San Marcos group. I don’t think

Billie Eilish exceeds all expectations with iconic performance at Leeds Festival
Walking through the crowd at Leeds fest it was hard not to notice the looks of sheer admiration and love people had for Billie Eilish as she stepped out for her upgraded set. God only knows the scenes that would have taken place if she had stayed at the Radio One Stage. Last year the 17-year-old was relatively unknown in the UK and now she draws an enormous crowd for a tea time Leeds slot. Her eerie trademark visuals appear on the stage and spark the crowd into frenzied excit

Album Review: Mac Demarco 'Here Comes the Cowboy'
The slack rocker’s melancholic fourth album gives us a lot to think about, and less to bounce
around to. Anticipation was ripe for Demarco’s next project following on from the commercial and
success of 2017’s ‘This Old Dog’. However, the release of the Canadian's first single ‘Nobody’ and
the consequent album title were marred in controversy as many believed Mac had
copied fellow singer songwriter ‘Mitski’: she too had released a single of the same name and
an album call

Boomtown Fair: A meeting of minds and music
Thousands of festival-goers woke up to the news that their long-awaited weekend of music and celebration was cancelled, as Boardmasters had to close its gates due to a severe weather warning. The torrential weather that halted proceedings in Newquay was most definitely felt in Winchester. Despite this, the wind and rain did by no means dampen the spirits of the Boomtown faithful. ‘A radical city’, the 11th chapter, positioned Boomtown in a predicament which mirrored the world

In Review: Slacks
Leeds-based hip-hop trio SLACKS released their self-titled debut EP towards the end of last year, and while it shows a lot of promise, it just falls short of greatness. It's by no means a bad release. The vibe that they have captured is great: soulful and laid-back tunes perfect for chilling out to, but the songwriting lacks depth. They do, however, get some things right. The EP follows the formula of jazzy acoustic guitar chords and hip-hop drums paired with soulful, breathy
