Ava Ro shares intimate new single ‘road trip’

Ava Ro is stepping into a new chapter with road trip, an understated new single that captures the uncertainty, excitement and nostalgia of growing up and leaving the familiar behind.

Released via DOOGOOD, the stripped-back track is the final preview of Ava’s forthcoming EP, due this September. Built around her emotive vocals and intimate instrumentation, road trip resists overproduction, letting its bittersweet message take centre stage.

At its heart, the song is about knowing you're ready for something bigger — while wishing someone you love would take the leap with you.

“road trip is about that second you realize you’re ready to leave your comfort zone and chase something new, but there’s this one person you desperately wish could come with you,” Ava explains. “It’s less about knowing where you’re actually going, and more about wanting to share the ride with someone who makes the whole thing feel worth it.”

That tension between moving forward and holding onto what you know runs throughout the track. Rather than presenting growing up as a clean break, Ava frames it as an invitation: sometimes taking the next step means hoping the right person chooses to come with you.

road trip also offers the clearest glimpse yet into the world of Ava’s upcoming EP, which explores growing up, changing relationships and figuring yourself out while everything around you keeps moving.

For Ava, the release marks another step in an increasingly varied career. Already known for her work as an actress and voice talent, she has appeared in Erin & Aaron, Home Sweet Rome!, Big Top Academy, Holly Hobbie and Take Note, while also voicing characters in Dino Ranch, Thomas & Friends and PAW Patrol.

Music has increasingly become a central part of that story. Following debut single Sevent33n and You Let Go, Ava released I Hate You, But You’re Mine earlier this year, with her growing momentum leading to two headline shows that sold out within 48 hours of announcement.

Now, with road trip out and her debut EP arriving in September, Ava Ro is proving there's plenty more to come.
