London slacker-country outfit Vegas Water Taxi have announced their new EP Long Time Caller, due October 3rd via PNKSLM Recordings. To mark the news, they’ve shared its first single and video, ‘Chateau Photo’ — a gently devastating alt-country gem pairing wry humour with tender heartbreak.
Frontman Ben Hambro describes the track as “about the moment of realisation that you’ve been replaced or excommunicated from a social group after a break up… it obviously hurts quite a lot, but there’s a sense of freedom that comes with it as well.” Musically, Hambro aimed for “Oasis meets Silver Jews – think we nailed it.”
Self-directed by Hambro, the video follows him through a surreal house party from which he’s quietly exiled — a visual companion that matches the band’s offbeat charm and emotional honesty. Recorded with Louis Milburn (Folly Group) and featuring contributions from Rhodri Brooks (pedal steel) and Holly Carpenter (violin), Long Time Caller expands the band’s bittersweet blend of Americana tones and British irony. It follows their acclaimed 2023 debut Things Are Gonna Be Alright, leaning even harder into whip-smart, sad-pop storytelling.
Fresh from appearances at SXSW London, Dork’s 100, and opening for Katy J Pearson at KOKO, Vegas Water Taxi will celebrate the EP with a headline show at The Ivy House, London on November 21st.
