Birmingham duo TABLE 4_1 channel heartbreak, resilience and raw emotion into their latest single, pairing intimate indie songwriting with a cinematic music video filmed at the Black Country Living Museum.

Some love stories aren’t meant to last — but their impact can linger long after the final goodbye. Birmingham-based duo TABLE 4_1 capture that emotional uncertainty on their haunting new single ‘Day & Night’, a beautifully stripped-back indie ballad that places honest storytelling firmly at its heart.

Out now, the track opens with delicate, strummed guitar and sublime, crystal-clear vocals before gradually building into an emotionally charged soundscape. Never allowing its instrumentation to overpower the intimacy of the performance, ‘Day & Night’ is a romantic, heart-tugging release that explores the struggles and contradictions of a relationship that may never have been destined to work.

The duo describe the track as “the truest story of romantic aporia” — an intimate reflection on the hardships of love, the feelings that surface throughout a relationship, and the questions that remain unanswered.

“The Day & Night era of TABLE 4_1 sees a new level in terms of production, songwriting and visuals previously unventured,” they explain, signalling a creative coming-of-age for the project.

Made up of Harry Bott and Luke Billingham, TABLE 4_1 is a project rooted in poignant lyricism and narrative-driven songwriting. For Bott, the release marks another chapter in a remarkable musical journey. Formerly frontman of Cigarette Social Club, he toured extensively across the UK, selling out shows from Glasgow to Devon and earning major radio support before the band dissolved in 2021.

Following a life-changing incident that left him paralysed, Bott has continued to create music with the same infectious energy and determination, using his songwriting to connect with and inspire listeners. He also hopes to use the attention surrounding ‘Day & Night’ to raise awareness of Friends at R.J.A.H., who provided invaluable support during his nine-month hospital recovery.

The single arrives alongside a cinematic music video filmed at the Black Country Living Museum, bringing the duo’s Black Country roots into sharp focus. Inspired by iconic visual music projects including My Chemical Romance’s ‘The Ghost Of You’ and Green Day’s ‘Wake Me Up When September Ends’, the video aims to tell the song’s story across both sound and image.

“As a Black Country-based outfit, it has always been a dream to work on a project that showcases our roots,” the band say. “Filming at B.C.L.M has been an amazing experience and has helped us to tell a story that hopefully people will relate to and ultimately enjoy!”

Created with a small team, limited budget and zero AI-generated imagery, the project stands as a testament to the duo’s commitment to creativity, collaboration and bringing something meaningful to life.

With ‘Day & Night’, TABLE 4_1 deliver a release that balances emotional vulnerability with artistic ambition — a stirring reminder that the most powerful songs are often those that leave a few questions unanswered.

‘Day & Night’ is out now.
