Tilly Louise Turns Long-Distance Lust Into Fuzzy Indie-Pop Banger ‘Sushi’

The Liverpool artist serves up distorted guitars, punchy percussion and lovestruck energy on a playful new single that captures the rush of finally meeting your online crush.
Long-distance romance hits differently when the chemistry is real — and Tilly Louise is turning that first-meeting magic into a fuzzy, guitar-driven rush on new single ‘Sushi’, out now via APOLLO Distribution.
Bursting with distorted guitars, punchy percussion and playful synths, the track brings a punky edge to alternative pop, pairing Tilly’s rich, powerhouse vocals with an infectious sense of romantic excitement. It’s messy, magnetic and full of the butterflies that come with finally meeting someone you’ve been falling for from afar.
As Tilly explains, ‘Sushi’ tells the story of long-distance dating and the moment everything shifts from phone screens to real life. “Finally getting to meet the person in real life instead of over the phone and you find yourselves completely smitten!” she shares. “The guard comes down, you want to spend all your time together, the rose tinted glasses are nowhere to be seen!”
Sonically, Tilly pulls from a colourful mix of influences, bringing the punch of Paramore and Hayley Williams together with the offbeat pop sensibilities of Darwin Deez, Sigrid and Caroline Polachek. The result is a sound that feels playful yet punchy, with enough fuzzy guitar grit to keep the sweetness firmly in check.
Flying the flag for Liverpool’s alternative scene, Tilly has been carving out her own lane with a genre-blurring approach that draws on everything from mathy pop to indie-rock. She also takes a hands-on role in bringing her music to life, working closely with friends and embracing the freedom to experiment.
Following previous single ‘Root Cause’, ‘Sushi’ marks another step forward, showcasing an artist leaning further into her own sound while keeping the process creative, instinctive and fun.
‘Sushi’ is out now via APOLLO Distribution.
