OXFLOYD Gets Dangerously Lost in Love on Dark, Emotionally Charged New Single ‘obsessed w u’

The Brooklyn-based, Greek-born artist explores the blurred line between infatuation and self-destruction on a piano-led track that spirals from vulnerability into heartbreak.
Love at first sight can be intoxicating — but what happens when the connection you’re convinced is real turns out to be built on lies? OXFLOYD dives headfirst into that emotional chaos on ‘obsessed w u’, a gripping new single that explores the darker side of desire, out now.
Blending intimate piano-led moments with a gradual, emotionally charged build, the track captures the dizzying rush of becoming consumed by someone before you’ve had the chance to figure out who they really are. Vulnerable yet volatile, ‘obsessed w u’ moves between romantic idealism and self-destruction, questioning whether the person pulling you in will ultimately save you or break you.
At its core, the track is about limerence — that all-consuming fixation where fantasy and reality become dangerously difficult to separate. Its repeated declaration of obsession feels less like a love song and more like a confession, as OXFLOYD confronts the unsettling realisation that knowing something is bad for you doesn’t necessarily make it easier to walk away.
“‘obsessed w u’ was written about a stranger I had just met,” he explains. “Someone I developed an almost instant obsession for, not knowing at the time that none of it was real. A relationship built on lies.”
That personal experience gives the single its emotional weight, capturing the moment before the illusion falls apart — when attraction overrides instinct and the possibility of heartbreak feels like a risk worth taking.
Born in Athens, Greece, and now based in Brooklyn, OXFLOYD has built his identity around a restless mix of influences and lived experiences. Raised by musician parents, he grew up surrounded by everything from The Beatles and Madonna to Queens of the Stone Age and Led Zeppelin, later expanding his musical world to include Ghostemane, Ye, Tame Impala and The Weeknd.
The result is a gritty, genre-fluid sound that refuses to settle into one lane, balancing darker sonic textures with an unfiltered emotional core. As a self-directed artist, OXFLOYD continues to shape a world that embraces imperfection, intensity and the freedom to make listeners feel everything at once.
Following previous releases ‘Selfish’ and ‘Oxygen’, ‘obsessed w u’ takes a more inward-looking turn, examining what happens when the desire to feel whole leaves you vulnerable to the very person who might hurt you. It’s another glimpse into an artist unafraid to explore the uncomfortable spaces between love, obsession and losing control.
‘obsessed w u’ is out now.
