NEWS: IDO Strips It Back and Leans Into Love on Tender New Single ‘Caught Me Off Guard’

With just an acoustic guitar and his voice, IDO returns with his third single, Caught Me Off Guard—a quietly devastating meditation on love, loss, and the emotional echoes they leave behind. Released today via APOLLO Distribution, the track is a raw, soul-baring acoustic ballad that showcases the power of simplicity and sincerity.

Known for turning personal experiences into poetic songwriting, IDO (aka Ido Doovdevani) uses little more than dreamy harmonies and delicate guitar picking to let his emotive vocals do the heavy lifting. The result is a folk-leaning, indie-rooted release that hits with quiet intensity. “This song is about those moments—when you fall deeply in love, and when your heart breaks and everything seems to fall apart,” IDO shares. “Though they feel like opposites, I’ve realised they carry the same kind of energy.”

Inspired by recent personal losses and fleeting moments of deep connection, IDO channels that vulnerability into a track that’s stripped to the bone but heavy with feeling. “I was trying to give structure to how it feels to fall in love,” he explains, “but I was also grieving people who left this world without warning. That sense of fragility stuck with me.”

Born from a journey of deep introspection, IDO’s music embraces emotional honesty without melodrama. Raised in a macho environment that discouraged vulnerability, IDO turned to songwriting as his refuge. “When I can’t find the words,” he says, “I find a melody that helps me carry the heavier parts.”

With Caught Me Off Guard, IDO cements his place as a rising voice in indie-folk—one who isn’t afraid to feel deeply and bring listeners with him. Catch IDO live on September 3rd at Dave’s Wine Vaults in Greenwich, and follow him on Instagram or YouTube to stay updated on his upcoming debut album.
