Dan Croll Shares Poignant New Single ‘Most Of All’ Ahead of Winning Streak

Dan Croll has returned with “Most Of All,” a beautifully arranged new single that finds the British singer-songwriter reflecting on travel, distance and the people who ultimately matter most.

The latest preview of Croll’s forthcoming album Winning Streak, due October 9, “Most Of All” turns a series of road trips across California and the American West into something more personal. Written during his final month living in Los Angeles, the song initially follows Croll’s urge to experience everything he had left on his list before moving back to the UK — but the landscapes eventually give way to a more lasting realisation.

Rather than the Pacific Coast Highway, Yosemite or the Grand Canyon becoming the defining memories, it is the people Croll encountered along the way who remain at the centre of the song.

Musically, “Most Of All” is every bit as considered. It opens with little more than classical guitar and Croll’s voice before gradually expanding into a rich orchestral arrangement, layering plucked bass, cascading piano, vibraphone, drums and strings. Croll’s work as both songwriter and arranger is particularly evident in the track’s slow build, with the production growing alongside the emotional weight of the lyric.

The strings were created through an especially hands-on process, with Croll repeatedly layering a single violin performance to achieve the warmth and scale of an ensemble while retaining the intimacy of the original recording.

“Most Of All” offers a strong indication of what to expect from Winning Streak, an album shaped by Croll’s return from Los Angeles to the UK and the transition that came with it. Across the record, he explores shifting definitions of success, resilience and the quieter victories that come with simply moving forward.

With more than 100 million streams behind him, Croll has established himself as a meticulous modern songwriter, earning support from BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2, BBC 6 Music, Clash, DIY and The Line of Best Fit. His catalogue has also travelled well beyond the indie circuit, with songs appearing in campaigns and projects for Apple, FIFA, Grand Theft Auto, Burberry and Paul Smith.

He has toured alongside Imagine Dragons, Bastille, Bombay Bicycle Club, HAIM, London Grammar and CHVRCHES, while his latest work continues to underline the detail and emotional precision that have defined his career.

Following the release of Winning Streak, Croll will head out for a series of UK in-store performances in Leeds, Liverpool, Oxford, London, Kingston, Southampton and Portsmouth. His original London date has already sold out, prompting an additional show due to demand.

On “Most Of All,” Croll distils an expansive journey into a simple conclusion: however far you travel, it may be the people you leave behind who stay with you longest.

Winning Streak arrives October 9.
