Tooth share new single ‘Medicine’ ahead of sold-out London show and UK tour

Rapidly rising London four-piece Tooth have returned with their blistering new single ‘Medicine’, out now via Soil To The Sun Recordings. The track marks the band’s second official release and arrives amid a surge of momentum for the quartet, who play a sold-out headline show at The Windmill in Brixton before heading out on UK dates with Keo.

Driven by churning, interlocking guitars and crashing drums, ‘Medicine’ captures the raw, chaotic energy that has quickly made Tooth one of the most talked-about new acts on the UK’s underground circuit. Already a staple of their live set, the song often descends into noisy freakouts reminiscent of Pavement, blending jagged indie rock with the emotional intensity of second-wave emo.

Frontman Tom Pollock explains that the band set out to strike a balance between noise and melody.

“We wanted to take the chaos of Sonic Youth but dilute it with a bit more structure and melody, and make it catchier. Lyrically it became a love song about an incessant lust for someone — vague in my mind, but with a rawness of emotion I liked.”

‘Medicine’ follows the band’s debut single ‘The Age of Innocence’, released earlier this year to widespread acclaim. The track landed Tooth a spot in the NME 100, alongside radio support from BBC 6 Music, Radio X, and BBC Introducing, as well as coverage from outlets including NME, DIY, Kerrang!, Rolling Stone UK and The Line of Best Fit.

Comprised of Tom Pollock (vocals/guitar), Ben Ashley (guitar), Charlie Arnison (bass) and Roy Lowe (drums), Tooth have spent the past few years building a reputation for their explosive live performances, which fuse US alternative rock, Midwest emo and garage rock into a volatile, shout-along sound.

Their growing reputation has already seen them open for artists including Keo, Brigitte Calls Me Baby, Men An Tol and Dust, while festival appearances have included Live At Leeds, Sŵn, Mutations, Kendall Calling and Tenement Trail. The band have since been picked up by Raw Power Management and signed to Soil To The Sun Recordings.

Both ‘Medicine’ and ‘The Age of Innocence’ were recorded at Church Studios in Crouch End with producer Kev Jones (Wunderhorse), mixed by Vince Ratti (Turnover, Scowl) and mastered by Will Yip (Turnstile, Title Fight), capturing the urgency and cathartic energy of Tooth’s live shows.

With a sold-out London headline show tonight and festival appearances lined up at The Great Escape, Dot to Dot, Gold Sounds Festival and 2000 Trees, Tooth’s ascent through the UK’s new-wave indie scene is gathering serious pace.
