West Australian favourites South Summit are stepping into a bold new era with the release of soaring new single ‘Heartless’, arriving May 6 alongside the announcement of a major UK and European headline tour for 2026.
The track marks the fourth taste of the band’s forthcoming sophomore album Run It Back, due June 12, and sees the Perth five-piece pushing further into expansive, emotionally-charged territory. Blending heartbreak with euphoric dance and house-inspired production, ‘Heartless’ transforms emotional fallout into a festival-ready anthem built for late-night singalongs and huge live moments.
Written during a recording trip to Yallingup before being completed with longtime collaborator Dave Parkin at Blackbird Sound Studio, the track captures the experience of drifting away from someone you once loved — pairing vulnerability with the band’s signature rhythm-led energy.
“It’s a retelling of something painful into something beautiful,” the band explain. “To us, the best way to heal is through music.” Alongside the release, South Summit have unveiled an extensive EU and UK headline tour set for September and October 2026, kicking off at Germany’s iconic Reeperbahn Festival before heading through the Netherlands, Belgium, France and across the UK, including a London headline show at The Garage.
The announcement follows a rapid rise for the Perth outfit, whose 2024 debut album The Bliss debuted at #2 on the ARIA Albums Chart and cemented them as one of Australia’s most exciting young bands. Since then, the group have built a devoted international following through relentless touring, sold-out headline runs and support slots alongside The Cat Empire and The Terrys.
Run It Back promises to showcase a more instinctive and fearless version of the band, shaped by years on the road and a desire to capture the energy of their live performances more authentically than ever before.
“We came into this record at a completely different point in our lives and weren’t afraid to take risks,” the band say. “The songs started to come more naturally once we trusted that.”
With triple j support, major festival appearances and international momentum continuing to build, South Summit’s next chapter is shaping up to be their biggest yet.
