Turnover have announced their long-awaited new album Down On Earth, arriving 29 May, alongside two brand new singles — the shimmering “Nightjar” and “I See You and Realize”.
Marking the Virginia band’s first album since 2022’s Myself In The Way, Down On Earth sees Turnover entering a bold new era, releasing independently and reconnecting with the raw chemistry that first defined them. Produced by longtime front-of-house engineer Zac Montez, the record captures the energy of the band’s live performances for the very first time.
New singles “Nightjar” and “I See You and Realize” continue Turnover’s evolution through dream-pop, alternative rock and new wave textures, while still retaining the emotional pull that’s made them one of modern indie’s most distinctive voices. “Nightjar” also arrives with a striking new video directed by Ben Turok, spotlighting the band’s Virginia Beach roots.
Created collaboratively through live jamming sessions and spontaneous studio experimentation, Down On Earth embraces freedom over perfection — with the band allowing songs to naturally take shape rather than chasing a fixed sound. The result is a record that blends the urgency of their punk beginnings with the hazy psychedelia explored across their later work.
Lyrically, the album dives into themes of love, death, loneliness and the afterlife, reflecting on the years since their last release with a wider emotional lens. Its artwork, shot by acclaimed photographer Nick Waplington, mirrors that timeless, dreamlike atmosphere.
The announcement follows Turnover’s huge Peripheral Vision 10th anniversary tour in 2025, which saw the band perform the biggest shows of their career — a milestone that appears to have reignited their confidence and creative direction.
Down On Earth lands 29 May 2026.
