THE SEWING CLUB UNLEASH NEW SINGLE ‘BARK’

Nashville indie-rock outfit The Sewing Club are back with ‘Bark’, a fuzzy, melancholic new single that finds the band leaning into the darker edges of their sound.

Built on distorted guitars, hazy hooks and a slow-burning sense of unease, ‘Bark’ tackles the moment someone you trusted reveals themselves to be someone entirely different. It’s a bruised, grungy slice of indie-pop that sits somewhere between Momma, Soccer Mommy and Rocket, pairing heavy subject matter with an irresistible melody.

Speaking on the track, the band explain that ‘Bark’ was one of the hardest songs to write, centred around discovering that someone who was supposed to offer safety and comfort was hiding something much darker beneath the surface.

The single arrives as The Sewing Club continue to build momentum around their forthcoming record, Sew. Written between home and the road and recorded with longtime friend Calvin Lauber, the project captures the strange, unsettled feeling of being twenty-something and watching life shift around you — friendships changing, relationships ending and the people you thought would always be there slowly becoming strangers.

Sonically, Sew refuses to sand down the rough edges. Expect blown-out guitars, sticky melodies and plenty of fuzz, with influences spanning Veruca Salt, The Breeders, Wishy, Punchlove and Slow Pulp.

With praise already coming from Paste Magazine, FLOOD Magazine, KEXP and SiriusXMU, The Sewing Club are quickly carving out a space of their own — nostalgic enough to feel familiar, but rough enough to keep things interesting.

‘Bark’ is out now, with a run of UK and European dates ahead before the band hit the road across the US later this year, including dates with Chase Petra.
