Plugged In and Poised: The Lathums Return with 'No Direction'

Unleashed and unrestrained, The Lathums have returned with their first new music of the year, "No Direction." This lyrically led, indie powerhouse single marks a triumphant return to their roots, delivering a three-minute blitz of buzzsaw guitars, speaker-bursting rhythms, and a fervent, heart-and-soul vocal display from singer Alex Moore.

Debuting ahead of their biggest show to date, "No Direction" precedes a sold-out performance at Robin Park, Wigan, where 12,000 fans will gather to witness their electrifying homecoming. This new track is a testament to the band's evolution, showcasing Scott Concepcion's modern jangle pop guitar riffs, and the steadfast rhythm section of drummer Ryan 'Duz' Durrans and bassist Matty Murphy. The band's sound propels them towards their next live milestone, following the rain-soaked triumph of last summer’s 8,000-strong gig at Manchester’s Castlefield Arena.

Despite their repeated successes, Moore’s lyrics continue to delve into the introspective journey of a twenty-something seeking meaning in a confusing world. He reflects, “There is no direction now but up. With time and experience I’ve learned that a bit of common sense and a clear mind is all it takes to accept my insecurities and not let them lead or consume me. What’s done is done, let the past go and spend time on becoming better. Fear and pain have no place in moving forward; they exist only as a lesson when you reach your final destination.”

In anticipation of the Robin Park show, The Lathums have played warm-up dates across northern UK and look forward to a busy summer, including Liam Gallagher’s festival in Malta in September and arena dates with Keane in October.

Adding to their celebration, The Lathums' charitable initiative, The Chance To See Fund, has surpassed £20,000 in fundraising. In collaboration with Curious Minds, this fund supports creative opportunities for young people in and around Wigan. Launched during their campaign leading to a second UK Official Album Chart No.1 with "From Nothing To A Little Bit More" in March 2023, the fund has already supported local projects in music, theatre, and the arts.

Grants ranging from £500 to £2,000 are available for local organizations, and individual young people can apply for grants of £50 to £500. Donations are welcomed via their Just Giving page at (https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/chancetosee).
