Pixie McCann Unveils Debut EP Indigo

Rising singer-songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Pixie McCann has shared her long-awaited debut EP, Indigo, Vibrant and New, alongside its poignant focus track, Living In Memory. Blending haunting vocals, atmospheric production and deeply personal songwriting, the five-track release introduces Pixie as one of the most distinctive new voices emerging from the UK and Irish alternative scene. Self-described as making "weird music for weird girls", her music occupies a space where beauty and discomfort collide, exploring themes of nostalgia, longing, self-doubt and emotional attachment through an otherworldly lens.

At the heart of the EP sits Living In Memory, a song written during a period of intense brain fog and emotional disconnection. Floating between dream and reality, the track captures the feeling of becoming trapped in the past while searching for a route back to the present. It serves as a fitting centrepiece for a project built around cycles, coincidences and the strange pull of memory.

"Indigo, Vibrant and New is my time capsule," Pixie explains. "Exactly how I felt in full honesty, bitterness, vibrance, love and hatred. I feel it exists somewhere between the ethereal and the human. I needed to make this project at that moment."

Across the EP, Pixie transforms fleeting moments into vivid sonic worlds. Opening track Déjà Vu began life as a 5am voice note recorded on a walk home after a night out, complete with birdsong and passing traffic. Elsewhere, Rotting confronts the intrusive thoughts and anxieties that emerge in the aftermath of social situations, while Don't Let Anything Go channels frustration and resentment into an unexpectedly cathartic release. Closing track The Pit lingers in the emotional grey area between caring too much and trying desperately to let go.

Having busked from the age of eleven and grown up immersed in Galway's rich folk and traditional music culture, Pixie has developed a performance style rooted in vulnerability and connection. Her immersive live-looping sets have steadily attracted attention, helping build a dedicated audience drawn to both her artistry and the community she has cultivated around it.

Indigo, Vibrant and New also marks a significant creative milestone, serving as Pixie's first project made alongside producer Joel Pott, whose previous collaborators include London Grammar, Joy Crookes, George Ezra and Shura. The partnership expands the sonic scope of the record while preserving the intimacy and emotional honesty that have become hallmarks of her songwriting.

Momentum around Pixie continues to grow rapidly. Recent support from BBC Introducing has included backing from Jess Iszatt, selection as a BBC Introducing Need To Know artist for June and an upcoming Maida Vale session. Live appearances at The Great Escape and support slots for Erin LeCount and Esha Tewari have further cemented her reputation as a compelling new live performer.

With festival appearances at Truck, Latitude, Boardmasters and Neighbourhood Festival on the horizon, Indigo, Vibrant and New feels less like an introduction and more like the arrival of an artist fully stepping into her own world.

Indigo, Vibrant and New is out now via Black Butter Records.
