Pretty Sick Announces Explosive New Album Anarchy, Shares Euphoric New Single ‘home2hide’
Pretty Sick is back. The New York-born project led by songwriter, bassist and vocalist Sabrina Fuentes has announced its long-awaited second album, Anarchy, due for release on 11 September via Dirty Hit. Alongside the announcement comes new single ‘home2hide’, a high-energy collision of pounding bass, trance-inspired synths and raw, emotionally charged lyricism. Co-produced by Oscar Scheller and Frost Children, the track finds Fuentes pushing further into the electronic territory hinted at on recent releases while retaining the sharp songwriting that has defined Pretty Sick from the beginning.
Accompanied by a visually striking video filmed in the French countryside, ‘home2hide’ continues Fuentes’ signature VHS-inspired aesthetic, blending intimate diary-like footage with spontaneous, run-and-gun filmmaking. Recorded primarily in Los Angeles with producer Oscar Scheller, Anarchy sees Pretty Sick embrace a bold new sound that fuses indie-pop, shoegaze, rap and electronic music into a maximalist, distortion-drenched statement. Led by previous single ‘Star’, the album channels Fuentes’ refusal to be confined by genre expectations, pairing crystalline synths and heavy beats with deeply personal songwriting.
“The through line is not caring to follow rules,” Fuentes explains. “Or meet expectations for any reason other than doing things for yourself.” The album follows an eventful few years for Fuentes. Since emerging from New York City's DIY underground scene, Pretty Sick has evolved from grunge-inspired beginnings into one of alternative music's most unpredictable voices. Following 2022 debut album Makes Me Sick Makes Me Smile and the club-focused Streetwise EP in 2024, Anarchy arrives as Fuentes' most ambitious project yet.
Across ten tracks, including ‘Needles’, ‘Hyper Independence’, ‘City Kid’ and the title track, Anarchy explores identity, independence and self-determination through a genre-blurring lens that feels equally at home in a rock venue or on a dancefloor.
