Mia Langridge ignites with vibrant new single ‘Big Bang’

Brighton-based indie-pop riser Mia Langridge returns with her electrifying new single ‘Big Bang’, a bright and punchy track that continues to cement her reputation as one of the city’s most exciting emerging voices. Out now via APOLLO Distribution, ‘Big Bang’ blends pop, folk and indie influences into a vibrant, hook-filled release that captures the warmth and immediacy that have quickly become central to Langridge’s sound. Built around buoyant melodies and an irresistible chorus, the track pairs its bright sonic palette with lyrics rooted in confrontation, frustration and emotional release.

While Langridge’s previous singles explored resentment and anger directed outward, ‘Big Bang’ flips the lens inward. The song reflects on the explosive moments when emotions boil over, capturing the tension between confrontation and self-reflection.

While I wrote the song primarily about being told you’re the problem by someone that can’t control their feelings, the concept of the song is confrontation,” Langridge explains. “The ‘Big Bang’ symbolises an explosion of emotions without considering the consequences or taking any of the blame.

Despite its weightier themes, Langridge’s instinct for sharp pop songwriting keeps the track uplifting and instantly memorable. Backed by her band — Alex (guitar), Izzy (drums) and Isaac (bass) — ‘Big Bang’ showcases the steady evolution of her sound, bringing greater energy and confidence with each release.

Already a highlight of Langridge’s recent live shows, the single has quickly become a crowd favourite. “I chose to release this song due to the love it gets at my gigs,” she says. “People already know the words and sing along to the chorus, which I love.

The track also marks a new chapter for the 20-year-old songwriter as her first release since signing with Brighton’s Pool Valley Records, a partnership set to drive a busy 2026. Produced once again by George Abrehart (WREX, SLAG, Sick Days) and mastered by Lewis Magill at Brighton’s Chalk venue, the single builds on the creative team behind earlier track ‘Birthday Party’.

Langridge will celebrate the release with a single launch show at Brighton’s Prince Albert on April 13, with further gigs and festival appearances expected later in the year.

Still only 20, Langridge has already built a growing following across the Brighton scene with her warm, narrative-driven indie-folk pop, drawing inspiration from artists including Joni Mitchell, Dolly Parton, Chappell Roan and CMAT.

Following a breakout 2025 that saw her release three singles and pack out local venues, ‘Big Bang’ signals the start of an ambitious year ahead — with four more singles and a string of live shows planned for 2026.
