Brighton’s rising emo/alt duo Hell Hotel have dropped their most devastating track yet: “promises.” Out today, the single confronts the raw moment of recognising a toxic relationship for what it is—and the struggle to let go. It’s a bruising mix of early-2000s emo nostalgia and modern post-hardcore bite, distilling the band’s signature heartbreak and honesty into three and a half intense minutes.
Fresh from ripping through Burn It Down Festival and No Play Festival, Hell Hotel are no strangers to big stages. They’ve already lit up London’s The Garage, Scala, and The Underworld, sharing stages with the likes of Dreamstate, Kid Brunswick, The Hara, and Tropic Gold. And with a September run supporting Kira Mac, their live momentum is only growing.
Frontman Tom calls “promises.” the band’s most complete work yet:
“It truly captures all the elements we take inspiration from—early 2000s emo and contemporary post-hardcore—blended into the most heartbreaking moment in our discography. ‘Nightmares are dreams too’ underpins everything we’ve released this year—you can’t have the light without the darkness.”
Vocalist Demi adds:
“This song is where I bare my soul more than ever before, laying it all on the line and letting my heart speak without filter or fear… I hope it invites listeners to sit with their feelings, explore the depths of who they are, and reflect on how far they’ve come.”
With previous singles “mirrors.”, “every broken part.”, and “chandelier.” winning BBC Radio 1 Introducing Rock airplay and praise from Rock Sound, Hell Hotel have cemented their place as one of UK emo’s most compelling new voices.
