Triple MOBO Award-winning rapper Guvna B has made a powerful return with new single Rest My Head, alongside the announcement of his forthcoming album and short film This Bed I Made, arriving 24 April.
Marking his first major release after stepping back from the spotlight, Rest My Head is a deeply personal statement — pairing dramatic live instrumentation with Guvna B’s most vulnerable writing to date. Delivered with the cadence of spoken word, the track confronts recent struggles head-on, exploring themes of pain, faith, shame and healing.
The single sets the tone for This Bed I Made, an 11-track project that dives into addiction, recovery and the stigma surrounding both. Rooted in conscious rap and infused with jazz and soul, the album features collaborations with Frankie Stew & Harvey Gunn, Bawo, AratheJay and Claudia Isaki, with production from Joel Baker and Maths Time Joy.
Expanding beyond music, the project arrives alongside a companion short film of the same name, directed by Christoph Davis and starring Guvna B himself. Blending cinematic storytelling with lived experience, the film offers an unflinching portrayal of addiction and the long road to recovery — supported by organisations including The Forward Trust and Samaritans.
The project also features insights from renowned trauma expert Gabor Maté, adding a clinical perspective to its exploration of accountability and rebuilding. To mark the release, Guvna B will host a special screening at London’s Curzon Cinema, followed by a Q&A with Jordan Stephens.
Known for bridging hip-hop, jazz and gospel-rooted soul, Guvna B continues to carve out a space as one of the UK’s most thoughtful and socially engaged artists. With three MOBO Awards, nine albums and two books to his name — including his acclaimed exploration of masculinity Unspoken — his work has consistently pushed beyond music into wider cultural conversation.
Now a father of two, this latest chapter signals a new level of openness. This Bed I Made stands as his most introspective project yet — an unflinching, hopeful exploration of what it means to confront the past and rebuild.
