Australian psych-rock mainstays POND have returned with “Terrestrials”, a cosmic new single and video that doubles as a pointed meditation on the contradictions of human nature.
Out now, the track marks the band’s first new material since their critically acclaimed tenth album Stung!—and finds them leaning further into existential territory. Equal parts expansive and uneasy, “Terrestrials” wrestles with humanity’s dual capacity for connection and destruction, wrapped in the band’s signature kaleidoscopic sound.
Frontman Nicholas Allbrook describes the track as a reflection on “the weirdest of all terrestrials—people,” highlighting the tension between our instinct to nurture and our tendency toward chaos. Written by bandmate Jay “Gum” Watson and recorded in Mullumbimby with producer Julian Abbott, the song channels that push-and-pull into something both introspective and explosive.
The release arrives alongside a new visual directed by Jesse Taylor Smith, further expanding the track’s off-kilter, otherworldly energy.
Alongside the single, POND have also announced a run of North American dates supporting Djo—the musical project of Stranger Things actor Joe Keery—kicking off this July. The shows promise to bring the band’s notoriously electric live presence back to stages across the US.
Since forming in Fremantle in 2010, POND have built a reputation as one of the most inventive forces in modern psychedelic rock, with a catalogue spanning ten albums and a live résumé that includes sharing stages with the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Queens of the Stone Age and Flaming Lips, as well as appearances at Glastonbury and Coachella.
With “Terrestrials”, POND step back into the spotlight with a track that feels both expansive and unsettling—grappling with the vast, unresolved question at the centre of it all: what it really means to be human.

This was such an exciting and energetic update I really enjoyed reading about Pond Return with Terrestrials announcing their 2026 North American tour with Djo, and the way the post shares the news feels genuinely enthusiastic without being over‑the‑top. It’s cool to see the bands expanding their reach and bringing their music to new audiences across the continent, especially since both acts have such distinct styles that appeal to different parts of the indie/psychedelic rock scene. The write‑up highlights the tour dates and cities in a way that makes it simple to get a sense of the route and plan around shows you might want to catch, instead of just throwing out a list without context.
