Anna Calvi has unveiled the title track from her forthcoming EP Is This All There Is?, a haunting and emotionally charged collaboration with Matt Berninger of The National.
Originally written for The Souvenir Part II, the track now arrives in a newly reimagined form — a sweeping duet that sees Calvi and Berninger’s voices intertwine in a slow-burning meditation on hope, intimacy and existential longing. Built around the idea of “the bravery it takes to hope,” the song captures two voices searching for answers, together yet somehow apart.
The release lands just days before Calvi’s new EP drops this Friday — a bold, collaborative project featuring an extraordinary cast including Laurie Anderson, Iggy Pop and Perfume Genius. Marking the first instalment in a planned trilogy, Is This All There Is? explores identity as something fluid and ever-changing, shaped by love, transformation and personal evolution.
Across its four tracks, the EP unfolds like a cinematic narrative — a direction shaped in part by Calvi’s recent work scoring Peaky Blinders. From the raw intensity of “God’s Lonely Man” with Iggy Pop to a reimagining of Computer Love by Kraftwerk alongside Laurie Anderson, the project blurs the lines between music, film and emotional storytelling.
Following contributions to HELP (2) alongside Ellie Rowsell and Nilüfer Yanya, Calvi continues to position herself among the most fearless and collaborative voices in contemporary music.
The release also coincides with a busy run of live appearances. Calvi is set to perform at Green Man Festival this summer, as well as appear at a Marianne Faithfull tribute show at London’s Barbican Centre alongside names including Jarvis Cocker and Rufus Wainwright.
With Is This All There Is?, Anna Calvi once again pushes deeper into the emotional and philosophical core of her work — crafting a project that feels as intimate as it is expansive, and as questioning as it is assured.
