Rising pop star Debbii Dawson has shared her striking new single Kool Aid, offering another compelling preview of her forthcoming EP Where Have All The Good Men Gone?, due for release on 26 June via RCA Records. Blending theatrical pop with deeply personal storytelling, Kool Aid transforms themes of manipulation, devotion and control into a cinematic anthem packed with soaring strings, whimsical melodies and Dawson's unmistakable vocal presence. Written and produced alongside acclaimed collaborators Justin Tranter and Tommy English, the track sees Dawson drawing on her own experiences to explore the seductive pull of toxic influence.
Inspired by a period in her life spent within a cult, the singer-songwriter uses Kool Aid to examine the universal desire for belonging and connection, while questioning how easily hope and trust can be weaponised. Speaking about the track, Dawson explains: "My song ‘Kool Aid’ is about that feeling. We all want to believe in something or someone, to belong and experience meaningful connection. When all of these great things are promised to you, it's very easy to get sucked into something dangerous."
The accompanying video, directed by Aaron Sinclair, amplifies the song's hypnotic themes, placing Dawson at the centre of a mysterious late-night gathering that mirrors the intoxicating nature of blind devotion. Kool Aid follows the release of the EP's title track, Where Have All The Good Men Gone?, a sweeping, big-band-inspired pop offering that showcased Dawson's sharp wit and genre-defying songwriting. Together, the two singles reveal different sides of an artist quickly establishing herself as one of pop's most distinctive new voices.
First capturing national attention with her memorable appearance on America's Got Talent in 2022, Dawson has continued to build momentum through a string of acclaimed releases. Since signing with RCA Records, she has earned praise from NME, Rolling Stone, Stereogum and Huffington Post, while tracks including Happy World, Chemical Reaction and You Killed The Music have amassed millions of streams.
Having also toured alongside artists including Orville Peck, Suki Waterhouse, Role Model and The Beaches, Dawson enters this next chapter with significant momentum behind her.
With Where Have All The Good Men Gone? set to arrive later this month, Kool Aid offers another glimpse into an artist unafraid to tackle difficult subjects through bold songwriting, shimmering production and fearless honesty.
