Curbside Lambsear Share Hypnotic New Single ‘Uneasy’ Ahead of Debut EP

London duo Curbside Lambsear are turning up the tension with ‘Uneasy’, the latest glimpse of their forthcoming debut EP, Put Rings On All My Fingers To Weigh Down My Hands, out 11 September via Scenic Route.

Built from chopped guitar, looped grooves, sonorous strings and intertwined vocals, ‘Uneasy’ finds Magdalena McLean and Annabelle Mödlinger pushing their sound deeper into the space between meticulous composition and freeform improvisation. The track also features improvised drumming from caroline founding member Jasper Llewellyn, whose instinctive performance transforms the song’s closing stretch into a sudden, exhilarating release.

The duo describe the track as emerging from a recording of McLean experimenting on guitar at Prah Studios, chopped and reshaped by Mödlinger into the song’s central loop. What began as a sparse, hypnotic idea gradually expanded through feedback, delay and improvisation before Llewellyn’s drums gave the ending an entirely new trajectory.

It’s a fitting introduction to a band whose music thrives on contradiction: rough textures meet soft intentions, while pop, folk, drone, dub and post-punk collide without settling into any one lane.

Curbside Lambsear have already drawn praise from The Quietus, Stereogum, So Young and Wonderland, with The Quietus describing their music as inhabiting “a fully-developed world that is wholly their own.”

The five-track EP follows earlier singles ‘No Ordinary Word’ and ‘Man The Door’, and promises a dizzying snapshot of a project built around both instinct and craft.

Fresh from a standout appearance at Green Man Festival, the duo will take the EP on the road across the UK and Europe this autumn, including shows in Berlin, Amsterdam, Brussels, Lisbon, Vienna and Paris. They will headline London’s Horse Hospital on 25 September.
