MICAH SAGE STEPS INTO A BOLD NEW ERA WITH SPELLBINDING EP GIRLFRIEND

ree

Calgary’s rising alt-pop force Micah Sage unveils her most ambitious and emotionally rich project yet with the release of her new EP, GIRLFRIEND — a vibrant five-track collection that fuses shimmering pop, electronic textures, and Sage’s signature cinematic alt-pop sensibility. Out now via APOLLO Distribution, the EP cements Sage’s evolution from breakout newcomer to fully realised, self-assured artist.

Anchored by its haunting final track “Josephine,” the project brings Sage’s storytelling into sharp focus. Where the EP’s earlier cuts pulse with infectious energy, “Josephine” arrives soft and devastating — a stripped-back acoustic reflection on love, loss, and the formative connections that linger for a lifetime. Sage’s aching vocals and delicate guitar work deliver a moment of stillness, closing the record with a striking emotional clarity.

Speaking on the project, Sage shares:“GIRLFRIEND is an exploration of the in-betweens — all the messy, silly, beautiful stages of romance that shape us. Being a ‘girlfriend’ was ironically the only thing missing from the EP. The most growth in my relationships has always happened in the limbo spaces, and that’s where I learn the most about myself.”

She continues:“That idea echoes how much I’ve learned about my artistry this year, creating pop music while letting myself live in genre-limbo. Staying open to the creative flow, trusting the process — it all led to something beautiful. And we had so much fun making it.”

Across GIRLFRIEND, Sage flexes her full range as a writer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, pairing polished alt-pop hooks with unexpected emotional depth. It’s a confident step forward from her acclaimed 2023 debut — one that positions her as one of Canada’s most exciting emerging voices.

Already an award-winning artist, Sage has earned radio play across SiriusXM, MuchMusic, and iHeartRadio; accumulated more than 170K streams; and captured national attention through television and press features including CBC, Global Calgary, and the Calgary Herald. After multiple sell-out shows at Calgary’s iconic King Eddy and a standout performance on the Coca-Cola Stage at the 2024 Calgary Stampede, Sage now turns the page with GIRLFRIEND — a project that feels like both a declaration and a breakthrough.
