UK electro-pop artist Mara Liddle returns with her new single ‘SPIN’. A bright, dancefloor-ready track, SPIN captures the universal moment of locking eyes with your person at a party and silently agreeing that it’s time to leave — together.
Built on energetic beats and playful melodies, SPIN leans into Mara’s signature blend of emotionally open lyricism and club-leaning pop production. Inspired by choosing intimacy over chaos, the song celebrates connection in its simplest form — that wordless understanding between two people who would rather be anywhere else, as long as they’re together.
Opening with the line “all night I’ve been thinking about leaving, caught your eye and I knew you felt the same thing,” SPIN sets the tone instantly: flirty, euphoric, and light on its feet. Speaking on the track, Mara explains:
“‘SPIN’ is about that moment where you and your person just get each other. You’re surrounded by people, music, and chaos, but all you want is to leave and make your own little world somewhere else.”
An independent UK artist, Mara Liddle writes songs about love, life, and navigating adulthood in the digital age, pairing candid storytelling with high-energy electro-pop and hyperpop influences. Drawing comparisons to Charli XCX, PinkPantheress, and Lily Allen, she has built a growing reputation on the live circuit, headlining local shows including Lymelight Festival, performing across the UK, and recently earning a Best Solo Artist nomination at her local music awards.
SPIN marks the beginning of a confident new chapter for Mara Liddle — inviting listeners onto the dancefloor while keeping its heart firmly in the moment.
‘SPIN’ captures that unspoken moment of connection on a dancefloor. Can you take us back to the real-life feeling or experience that inspired the song?
I live in a small city where there are only a couple of nightclubs, and I don’t go out out very often. When I do, it suddenly feels like everyone I’ve ever known is around me. It’s nice in a way, but it always makes me think: out of all these people, I ended up with the best one. In that moment, that’s the only person I want to be with, and everyone else just becomes background noise.
Sonically, SPIN feels playful and club-ready while still emotionally intimate. How do you balance vulnerability with high-energy pop in your songwriting and production?
That’s the fun part of music — or any kind of art — being able to put so much of yourself into it. With SPIN, I really wanted to capture that fun, night-out energy sonically, while lyrically expressing my own feelings and experiences of nights out, and the different ways they can make you feel connected.
The lyric “caught your eye and I knew you felt the same thing” sets the tone instantly. How important is storytelling and immediacy when you’re opening a song?
I like to get straight to the point. I studied creative writing at university and used to write short stories, which really teaches you how to cut out the flowery bits. I do love songs where the story slowly unfolds — You Missed My Heart by Mark Kozelek and Jimmy LaValle is a great example — but for me, I want you to know straight away what I’m all about.
You’ve spoken about choosing intimacy over chaos. Do you think that theme reflects how people navigate relationships and nightlife in the digital age?
Definitely, especially for the people around me. I’m at that stage of adulthood where it’s harder to make new friends and even harder to hold onto the ones you have because everyone’s so busy. When we do get together, it can feel like it’s just us on the dancefloor and no one else. It becomes a really intimate experience.
‘SPIN’ marks the start of a new chapter for you. What can listeners expect from this next era of Mara Liddle — both sonically and emotionally?
I’m really going hard in 2026. I’m so excited about the music I’m making and the people I’m connecting with. I genuinely can’t wait for everyone to hear what I’ve been cooking up.
