Lusaint Shares New Single “Shoot You Dead” Ahead of The Apothecary (Pt. 2) and Debut EU + UK Headline Tour

Manchester singer-songwriter Lusaint returns with Shoot You Dead — a sultry, emotionally charged new single that dives into darker headspaces while reaching for freedom and independence. Taken from her forthcoming EP The Apothecary (Pt. 2) (out April 17), the track blends pop melody with jazz-soaked warmth and Nashville-tinged textures, building toward a cool, controlled crescendo beneath Lusaint’s unmistakably soulful vocals.

Following viral breakout moments, sold-out shows, and festival appearances, Lusaint is now preparing to embark on her first-ever EU & UK headline tour — a major milestone in a rapid rise that’s seen her amass hundreds of millions of streams and widespread support from BBC Radio 1 and tastemakers across the UK and Europe. With Shoot You Dead, she leans further into vulnerability and introspection, exploring dependency, control, and the emotional release that comes with letting go.

Below, Lusaint opens up about the song’s origins, creative flow, honesty in songwriting, and the emotions behind taking her new EP on the road for the very first time.

“Shoot You Dead” deals with darker corners of the mind and freedom from old vices. Can you talk us through the moment this song came to life for you, and what you wanted listeners to feel?”

Shoot you dead I wrote on a writing week in Brighton around a year ago. I had the melody floating around my brain all day and the lyrics of shoot you dead came out straight away! It was written on guitar in around an hour and the flow happened really naturally. It’s about letting go of someone that controls your life and running free with your independence.

Your music blends pop melodies with jazz, soul, and even Nashville-tinged elements. How do you approach balancing those influences while keeping your voice and story at the centre?

I love a wide range of music but whenever I’m in the studio, jazz chords with certain melodies really excite me and help me to feel in a really creative flow. I listen to jazz music most days and i just find it really inspires me generally. Experimenting with that and adding the pop and soul helps to allow my vocals to do more of what I love. Being in the studio in the right frame of mind and with the right amount of creative flow is such a unique experience.

You’re about to embark on your first EU & UK headline tour. What emotions are coming up for you as you prepare to bring your new EP to so many cities for the first time?

I’m really excited for these shows! A first European tour feels quite surreal and to have my band with me will be incredible. A tiny amount of nerves but that’s never a bad thing!

Many of your recent tracks, including Shoot You Dead, explore vulnerability and introspection. How important is honesty and emotional openness in your songwriting, and how do you maintain that while performing live?

I think it’s really important to be as honest as you can with songwriting. It feels really vulnerable and I still struggle with that at times but it’s essentially your diary and with that, comes the emotion through performance. I think the audience love to feel that too as they can relate, and allows people to feel freely with no judgement.

You've had a rapid rise over the past few years, from viral covers to sold-out shows and festival appearances. Looking back, what have been the moments that most shaped you as an artist and as a person?

I think performing live is always such a stepping stone for me. Every show you learn something new about yourself. A recent stadium support tour gave me so much experience and confidence. I try not to take anything for granted and im really proud of everything I’ve achieved so far. Every day is different and it’s a really exciting time!

If you’d like next, I can also help turn this into a shorter media pitch, pull standout quotes for socials, or format it for press distribution — just say.
