Miler Reflects On Life And Loss With New Single ‘Betty’

Brighton-based indie alternative rock project Miler has shared deeply personal new single ‘Betty’, a raw reflection on loss, self-awareness and the choices that shape our lives.

Led by Hastings-born artist Calista Morgan, the track was inspired by the final conversation she shared with a friend before her death — a conversation that forced Morgan to reconsider the direction of her own life.

“‘Betty’ is about the last conversation I had with a friend before she died, in which she told me to think carefully about my life and what path I was on,” Morgan explains. “It’s a personal self reflection and exploration of my experiences and how I let them shape me.”

That weight is matched by the music. Gritty guitars and pounding drums give ‘Betty’ a grungy, driving edge, while Morgan’s vocals move between vulnerability and raw intensity. Rather than simply dwelling on grief, Miler uses the track to confront the parallels between two lives — and the warning left behind.

‘Betty’ also serves as the first taste of Miler’s debut EP, due later this year. Drawing on shoegaze, ’90s grunge, indie rock and slower-burning country influences, the project combines expansive instrumentation with songwriting rooted firmly in personal experience.

The track arrives via APOLLO Distribution, and marks another step forward for a project built around Morgan’s distinctive approach to alternative rock.

Miler will also celebrate the release with a special single launch show at The Folklore Rooms in Brighton on September 11, with just a handful of tickets remaining.
