From a homemade placard to the main stage—meet DJ Hypester, the 13-year-old who turned a dream into a drum and bass reality. Last summer, Harry Frost held up a sign at CarFest that read “Let me DJ.” Fast forward a few hours, and the young prodigy was behind the decks, closing out the festival with a high-energy set that sent shockwaves through the crowd—and the internet.
With five years of DJing under his belt, a killer USB stick in his pocket, and nerves of steel, Harry didn't just play—he delivered. Even legends like Chase and Status called him a “legend in the making.” Now 13, and with a fast-growing fanbase, DJ Hypester is ready to talk adrenaline, autism, and how a cardboard sign kick-started what could be one of the UK’s most exciting DJ journeys.I love all music, but here are the 5 songs that have most influenced my journey (so far):
Porcelain by Moby
started listening to this when I was around 4, it was the first song that I realised had samples in it.
Rockafella Skank by Fatboy Slim
dad used to play this in the car, when I was around 5, and I love the way it builds & builds.
Breathe by The Prodigy
I was front & centre on my dad’s shoulders for one of Keith’s last live performances when I was 7. The sound, the energy, the stage presence - it all blew my mind. I still remember the feeling it gave me, and I still use a remix of this song in my sets today.
Baddadan by Bou and Chase & Status
I held up my homemade “Let me DJ” sign at Carfest for 3 days when I was 12, and on the last night got the chance to give all the teenagers what they wanted. They went absolutely nuts when I dropped Baddadan. Chase & Status shared it to their social media and it went viral. They are supporting my career, and I was honoured to meet them both last year. I hope to meet Bou this year, and I would love to work with all of them in the future.
Tell Me by Mozey
I flippin love his energy and music. I met him when I was playing at Boardmasters last year, and got to watch his set in the booth with him. It struck me how similar my mixing style is to his (in fact quite a few people have commented on that now). I would absolutely love to work with him in the future. I have been surrounded by music all of my life, from my Granny playing 70’s Rock, to 90’s raves in the kitchen with my mum. I started going to music festivals aged 2, and can play loads of musical instruments. I started DJing aged 7, and started producing aged 12.
