DAHI SHARES POWERFUL NEW SINGLE "SQUARE UP" FEATURING FOUSHEÉ AHEAD OF DEBUT ALBUM BLACK BOY (ALTERNATIVE)

Debut album Black Boy (Alternative) featuring Kendrick Lamar, Childish Gambino, Vince Staples, Ravyn Lenae, Baby Rose, Channel Tres and more arrives 28th August.

Grammy Award-winning producer Dahi has shared his latest single, "Square Up" featuring Grammy-nominated artist Fousheé, offering another compelling glimpse into his long-awaited debut album, Black Boy (Alternative), due for release on 28th August via ALTER Music.

Built around Dahi's rich, cinematic production and Fousheé's magnetic vocal performance, "Square Up" sits at the heart of the sonic world he has described as "Black Radiohead"—a genre-blurring blend of alternative music, hip-hop and soul that refuses easy categorisation. The track explores themes of identity, self-definition and liberation, reinforcing the album's wider vision of challenging expectations and embracing the many dimensions of Black experience.

The release follows the song's premiere as Zane Lowe's New Music Daily Track of the Day, where Dahi also spoke about the project and the creative journey behind his debut album.

Over the weekend, Dahi marked the album's arrival with a special live event at Los Angeles venue Sister Dreamer, bringing Black Boy (Alternative) to life for the first time. The intimate celebration featured appearances and performances from several collaborators across the record, including Childish Gambino, Vince Staples, Ravyn Lenae, Channel Tres, Jesse Boykins III and French Anthony, creating a rare moment that celebrated not only the forthcoming release but also Dahi's immense influence on a generation of artists.

Although Black Boy (Alternative) is his first solo album, Dahi has spent the past decade quietly shaping the sound of contemporary music. From crafting Kendrick Lamar's "Money Trees" and Drake's "Worst Behavior" to collaborations with SZA, Travis Scott, Steve Lacy, Kali Uchis, Baby Keem, Post Malone, Vince Staples, Brent Faiyaz, Madonna, Sampha and countless others, his fingerprints can be found across some of the defining records of modern hip-hop and R&B.

That same creative vision drives Black Boy (Alternative). Bringing together an exceptional cast including Kendrick Lamar, Childish Gambino, Vince Staples, Fousheé, Channel Tres, Moses Sumney, Amber Mark, Baby Rose, Ravyn Lenae and more, the project reflects both the artistic relationships Dahi has cultivated throughout his career and the personal experiences that shaped him.

At its core, the album revisits the music that defined Dahi's youth—where hip-hop and R&B existed alongside alternative rock, even if those worlds were rarely presented together. Rather than choosing between them, Black Boy (Alternative) embraces both, becoming a powerful statement about identity, belonging and creative freedom that invites listeners to exist beyond convention.

With anticipation continuing to build, "Square Up" stands as one of the album's most striking moments yet.
