Hinterland 2026 Closes on a High as Festival Confirms 2027 Return

The 11th annual Hinterland Music Festival wrapped up another hugely successful weekend in St. Charles, Iowa, drawing thousands of music fans for four days of standout performances, community spirit and immersive festival experiences.

This year's event featured headline sets from KATSEYE, Lorde, Mumford & Sons and Kali Uchis, with KATSEYE making festival history by delivering the group's first-ever major festival headline performance as they opened the weekend on Thursday.

Following the success of the 2026 edition, organisers have already confirmed that Hinterland will return from July 30 to August 1, 2027, with fans now able to register for early ticket access at the festival's guaranteed lowest price.

Renowned as one of America's leading independently owned music festivals, Hinterland once again showcased its reputation for forward-thinking curation. Founder and producer Sam Summers assembled a genre-spanning lineup that paired internationally acclaimed artists with emerging talent across pop, indie, rock, R&B, Latin, folk and alternative music.

Beyond the music, festivalgoers enjoyed the expanded Hinterland experience, including the popular HinterMarket, featuring regional artists and makers, alongside large-scale art installations, interactive experiences, scenic trails and outdoor activities that continue to set the Iowa festival apart.

Since launching in 2015, Hinterland has grown into one of the Midwest's premier destination festivals, welcoming acclaimed artists including Chappell Roan, Zach Bryan, Bon Iver, Hozier, Noah Kahan, Kacey Musgraves, Willie Nelson and Leon Bridges. Following another memorable edition, anticipation is already building for its return in 2027.
