Hailing from Barrow-in-Furness, Divers Green are a punk/grunge band shaped by boredom, beer, and the need to make something happen where not much else does. With limited distractions and plenty to prove, the band have spent their time in sweaty rooms writing tunes and turning local venues inside out with chaotic, high-energy live shows.
Since forming in late 2023, Divers Green have taken a fiercely DIY approach — handling their own emails, media, and promotion while learning the music industry the hard way. Along the way, they’ve racked up standout moments including a slot on Kendal Calling’s Calling Out stage, shows across Lancashire and Cumbria, and being named one of BBC Lancashire / Cumbria’s Ones To Watch for 2026.
At the heart of it all is a band whose true identity lives on stage — unpredictable, loud, and built to be experienced in the room.
1. You’ve said there’s “not a whole lot to do” where you’re from, so you end up in sweaty rooms writing tunes — how has growing up north shaped your sound and attitude as a band?
I’d say it’s quite contradictory. In some ways coming from Barrow leaves us with little options of what to do, so in turn makes our music a more pure reflection of what we are. Yet at the same time leave us with something to prove to the city goers with so much opportunity on their doorstep. I guess that’s where the attitude comes from, and we aren’t exactly complaining.
2. Since forming in late 2023, you’ve had to figure out the music industry the hard way. What’s been the biggest lesson so far, and what nearly broke you along the way?
I wouldn’t necessarily say we’ve learnt our lesson. There’s so much more that goes into this than just turning up and plugging in, so many opportunities for challenges to arrive… But that’s where the fun begins, in the overcoming of random hurdles that come up in our path. We do all our own stunts (emails, media, promo, etc …) and take pride in that! in terms of what’s nearly broke us, other than disagreements in let’s say ‘attitude’ and a few extra curricular activities- we are doing pretty well!
3. Playing Kendal Calling and being named one of BBC Lancashire/Cumbria’s Ones to Watch for 2026 are big moments — when did it first feel like things were actually starting to click?
These are huge moments for us, but it only leaves us wanting more. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or not. In terms of the feeling of things ‘starting to click’ I think that hits individually in the moment every time, and hope it never ends. When we’re playing them bigger gigs or getting that kind of recognition it feels great every time and never gets old. I hope it never ends.
4. “Car Crash” got a pretty unforgettable reaction from Frank Carter. What does that kind of recognition mean to you, and did it change how you see your own music?
the recognition from such an idol means the world to us! And it definitely gives us the feeling of being on the right path which goes a long way. He’s actually played at our home town with his former band “Gallows”, so we’re patiently awaiting a return!
5. Your live shows are clearly a huge part of who you are — beers, chaos, and setting venues alight. What can people expect from a Divers Green gig that they won’t get anywhere else?
As a band our live shows are our true identity. There’s something there that’s so hard to capture in a studio. I’d like to think you shouldn’t know exactly what to expect at a gig. We have a set that goes from hard ripping punk to more stripping back unplugged vibe tunes, there’s something for everyone. And thats what we take pride in, we don’t exactly fit into any category, the only way to truly know is to be there.
