Hua Li 化力, a distinctive voice in music known for blending elements of R&B, hip-hop, jazz, and electronica, has released her eagerly awaited LP, ripe fruit falls but not in your mouth, via Next Door Records today. This album marks her boldest work yet, exploring themes of trauma, healing, and celebration through a mix of introspective lyrics and compelling melodies showcased in standout singles “Cherrier”, “Part Time Muses”, and “Sanctions of the Heart”.

Along with the album’s launch, Hua Li unveils her collaboration with Montreal’s indie rapper Darkus Millon in the single “Whip Around”. The track features Millon’s signature freestyle rap over piano accents, exploring the complexities of relationship dynamics. Hua Li comments on the collaboration, highlighting the exploration of longing and confusion within challenging relationships.

The release is accompanied by a music video for “Whip Around” directed by Hua Li and shot by Simona Lepadatu. Inspired by vintage instructional films and nature documentaries, the video captures Hua Li and Millon in a natural setting, likening their communication to that of creatures without a common language. The album, ripe fruit falls but not in your mouth, is available globally across streaming platforms. In support of the album, Hua Li is set to join Land of Talk on tour, promising a series of mesmerizing live performances. Tour stops include cities such as Ottawa, Montreal, Boston, Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Washington, DC, and more, spanning from April 4th to May 5th.

Hua Li’s work is recognized for its unique fusion of genres and thought-provoking lyrics. Having contributed to Gayance's Polaris short-listed album "Masquerade," and toured as the DJ for Riit, her influence extends beyond her solo work. Her debut album Dynasty and the Yellow Crane EP, a tribute to her mother’s hometown of Wuhan, have established her as a notable figure in the music scene.
