Hard-Fi announce first album in 15 years Sweating Someone Else’s Fever and share new single ‘They Ain’t Your Friends’

Staines indie icons Hard‑Fi have announced their long-awaited return with a brand new studio album, Sweating Someone Else’s Fever, arriving June 19 via V2 Records — their first full-length release in 15 years.

Alongside the announcement, the band have shared the album’s sharp-tongued first single ‘They Ain’t Your Friends’, a swaggering new track that takes aim at the false allegiances of the online world and the shifting power dynamics of the modern music industry.

Written and recorded throughout 2025 in the band’s Cherry Lips studio — an old taxi office turned creative hub — the album was produced by frontman Richard Archer alongside longtime collaborator Wolsey White. The record looks outward at a fractured modern world while retaining the sharp social commentary that powered the band’s breakthrough debut Stars of CCTV.

The title Sweating Someone Else’s Fever comes from an El Salvador saying about fighting other people’s ego-driven battles — a theme that runs through the record as the band reflect on politics, technology, nightlife culture and modern relationships.

First single ‘They Ain’t Your Friends’ also has an unexpected origin story. The track began as two separate demos before Archer’s tech-savvy 10-year-old son accidentally stitched them together on a laptop, creating a chaotic hybrid that ultimately sparked the final version.

Elsewhere on the album, snarling guitars drive ‘Looking For Fun’, while ‘You Rule My Heart’ stands out as one of the band’s most emotive songs to date. The record also sees Hard-Fi exploring new territory: ‘Digo Nada’ draws on Archer’s love of cumbia and features UK-based Colombian rapper Mike Kalle, while Olivier Award-nominated singer Krysten Cummings lends vocals to ‘You Rule My Heart’ and ‘A Rose Electric’, adding a new dimension to the band’s sound.

Hard-Fi’s comeback began during lockdown, when Archer livestreamed Stars of CCTV and was surprised by the scale of the fan response. A reunion show at O2 Forum Kentish Town sold out within minutes, leading to the band’s 2024 EP Don’t Go Making Plans and eventually a full return to the studio.

To celebrate the new album, Hard-Fi have also announced three major UK headline shows for December, including a return to O2 Academy Brixton, alongside dates in Birmingham and Manchester.

  • 3 Dec — O2 Academy Brixton, London

  • 4 Dec — O2 Institute Birmingham, Birmingham

  • 5 Dec — O2 Ritz Manchester, Manchester

Pre-sale tickets go live March 11 at 10am, with general sale starting March 13 at 10am.

The band will also appear at a number of UK festivals this year, including Stockton Calling, Y Not Festival, Kendal Calling, and Victorious Festival.

After more than a decade away from the album format, Hard-Fi’s return signals a band re-energised — looking at the present with the same sharp wit that first put them on the map, but with a broader musical palette and renewed sense of freedom.
