George Bloomfield: Artist Spotlight

George Bloomfield is a Leeds based composer and multi-instrumentalist championed by the likes of BBC Introducing. We first stumbled across his music covering his first ever single 'Twelve'. We were delighted when we heard Bloomfield had new music on the way. For those who aren't yet acquainted with him, his music draws from a range of influences, his music has developed a distinctive lo-fi indie/jazz aesthetic, featuring wavy guitars and weaving horn arrangements that he combines with a unique production style, FFO Khruangbin, KOKOROKO & Connan Mockasin. In ‘Goodnight’ George continues to explore his experiences of grief and the process of accepting a difficult reality a few years down the line. The song takes us to the quiet moments before sleep where the line between reality and dreams blur, and memories take on new shapes with a vivid imagination. George has created an animated music video, taking the viewer through cycles of consciousness and colorful dreamlands as a story of gradual acceptance unfolds.

Performing, recording, mixing and mastering all his tracks from home, his debut EP ‘Why Didn’t You?’ (2021) an latest single ‘Sun Smiles Down On Me’ already cemented the producer as one of the most exciting emerging artists in the Leeds music scene, and this latest offering is sure to continue this impressive trajectory. For this new release, George focused on adding a visual element to further his creative process, making a stop motion music video from over 2000 individual photos, depicting a vibrant collage taken from old photography books. The music video will be released on YouTube on June 15th (watch HERE)

George has also assembled a brilliant 7 piece band to perform these arrangements live, taking this lockdown recording project out of the bedroom and onto the stage. Join George Bloomfield & Co at Hyde Park Book Club on June 6th for a night of live music to celebrate the release of his new single ‘Goodnight! Event HERE

A live session featuring the pre-existing single ‘Why Didn’t You? Will be released on YouTube on May 18th to promote the gig and campaign. Watch HERE
