Led by London-via-Southend songwriter Samuel Jones, First Day of Spring enter a revitalised new chapter with a line-up that shifts like weather patterns but always circles his magnetic songwriting. With its addictive bassline, retro-futurist synths, electro-funk pulse and a gloriously unhinged saxophone freak-out, ‘PARTYZEIT!’ is the band’s most technicolour statement yet — First Day of Spring, but sunlit, supersized and joyously strange.

The track features a spirited vocal appearance from Rebecca Gillerion of The Plan, adding extra spark to an already euphoric groove. It arrives as the first of four instalments that will form Human Flesh, set for completion in 2026.

Speaking about the track, Samuel explains:“‘Partyzeit!’ is a look at the re-learning process and personal growth that follow from piecing things back together after long periods of feeling disconnected from ‘keeping it in the day’. That disconnect had prevented external action. ‘Partyzeit!’ represents the authentic, humbling, energising and uplifting process of coming back to yourself. I wanted that energy to live inside the music’s aesthetic — an aesthetic that The Plan’s queen, Rebecca Gillerion, helped fully realise.”

The single follows two acclaimed EPs and builds on praise from CLASH, The Line of Best Fit, Wonderland, Far Out, Brooklyn Vegan, Under The Radar, Earmilk and Clunk, as well as spins on BBC Radio 6Music (Emily Pilbeam) and BBC Introducing.

Early supporters have described their world as:“a unique and enthralling alternative journey” – Wonderland“blissed out gems” – Brooklyn Vegan“something new, built with a distinct vein of confidence” – CLASH“indie euphoria... alluring emotive grace” – Under The Radar
