Margate’s unstoppable alt duo debdepan have unveiled “Ghost”, the final single from their forthcoming sophomore EP Lovers & Others — out November 28th via Silent Kid Records.
Following the intense, cyclical “Habit” and the snarling “The Girl”, “Ghost” finds Chelsea and Grace venturing into new emotional territory. Opening with a glimmer of vulnerability and a Florence-esque sense of grandeur, the track soon detonates into the dark, gritty pulse that’s become their signature — equal parts pop heartbreak and post-grunge bite.
"This song had to feel like a journey," the duo explain. "It needed a big fat pop chorus to juxtapose the dark and miserable verses." Recorded with Mike Collins in Ramsgate, the track’s layered guitars and shifting dynamics heighten that sense of release and collapse — a tension between power and fragility that defines debdepan’s evolving sound.
The self-shot music video brings levity to the emotional weight: a lo-fi, Halloween-inspired romp through Margate, with the pair disguised as ghosts (and one drone controller cheekily visible beneath the sheet). It’s DIY in spirit, playful in execution, and a reminder that debdepan’s friendship remains at the heart of their creative chemistry.
Formed during lockdown and nurtured through Pie Factory Music’s Emerging Artists programme, the duo’s rise has been swift — with support slots for Pete Doherty, Miki Berenyi, and Cumgirl8, plus festival appearances across Europe. With Lovers & Others, debdepan promise to blur the line between dark pop, grunge, and dance music even further — a “sad girl but kind of party” energy rooted in late-night Margate escapism.
“Ghost” is out November 5th, with Lovers & Others following on November 28th.
