Courting return with explosive new single “the twins (1969)” and tease deluxe edition of Lust For Life

Liverpool art-rock agitators Courting have dropped their first new music since March’s acclaimed third album with the release of urgent new single “the twins (1969)”, out today via Lower Third Recordings. The track also serves as the first hint at a forthcoming deluxe edition of Lust For Life Or: How To Thread The Needle And Come Out The Other Side To Tell The Story.

Anchored by tightly wound vocals, looping refrains and a raw lyrical focus on absence and emotional debris, “the twins (1969)” picks up where Lust For Life left off – examining grief, identity and duality with sharp-eyed precision. “The Twins is about only missing something once you've lost it. Filling boots, and leftovers,” says frontman Sean Murphy-O’Neill, whose deadpan delivery spirals into controlled chaos as the track unfolds.

The song is the first of several unreleased tracks promised in Lust For Life’s expanded edition – with full details still under wraps – but its arrival signals more of the band’s signature sound: jagged guitars, whiplash transitions, and deceptively emotional songwriting wrapped in noise-pop stylings.

Critically lauded upon release, Lust For Life has already earned Courting their strongest set of reviews to date – from NME calling it “intricate, considered and brazen” to The Observer hailing them as “special” and warning fans to “enjoy this lot while you can.”

Fresh from their second U.S. tour in a year – selling out venues and sharing stages with NYC buzz-band Geese – Courting are set to return to London next month for a headline set at Paper Dress Vintage on September 27, as part of SOUNDHOOD by SON Estrella Galicia.
