TONIGHT: NEEDS to Host Virtual Discussion on Sustainability in Dance Music

Established in 2017, Needs (not for profit) is a collective, event series, and record label that seeks to utilise the creative arts to give back to people in need. Since 2017, they have gone on to raise money and awareness for Mind UK, Cool Earth, Earth Day and also worked closely with UN Women on their HeForShe campaign in 2018.The label has released music from the artists including Peggy Gou, Eris Drew, Ciel, Red Axes, and they also have a compilation coming out next month in aid of World Mental Health Day which features tracks from Shanti Celeste, Yu Su, Peder Mannerfelt and more.

"We believe in people. The concept is to use music as a medium to spread love, unity and the idea of giving back. Promoting harmony and togetherness rather than isolation and estrangement, each release and accompanying event will act as a support stream to issues within society. As of 2020 our focus will be on the environment and mental health."

Needs' latest endeavour is a virtual discussion on sustainability in dance music which will take place tonight at 8pm on their Facebook page. Explaining the event, Needs said '2020 has been a year of change and transition, especially so for the nightlife industry and dance music community. Tonight I'll be joining other industry experts to discuss the current state of affairs, and more importantly the ways we can rebuild our scene more sustainably in future.' The discussion will be in the form of a livestream that will feature:

Saoirse

Hadi Ahmadzadeh (Ecodisco)

Eilidh McLaughlin (Clean Scene / POLY. Artists)

Benjamin Sasse (Meadows in the Mountains Festival)

Jorge Nieto (Village Underground / Earth)

Moderated by Kitty Bartlett (Kmya)

You can find the live stream here at 8pm tonight.
