TÉODORA gets personal on haunting new single ‘call it home’

The London-based dark pop and R&B artist explores homesickness, identity and the cost of chasing a dream, as she makes waves on both The Voice UK and The Voice Romania.
TÉODORA is turning the spotlight inwards on new single ‘call it home’, an intimate, piano-led release about leaving your roots behind and learning to live with the feeling of missing somewhere you once called home.
The London-based Romanian singer, songwriter, producer and flutist is currently appearing on both The Voice UK and The Voice Romania, having turned all four judges’ chairs on the UK show. But away from the big-stage moments, ‘call it home’ reveals a more vulnerable side to an artist whose sound blends dark pop, R&B and atmospheric electronic production.
Built around delicate piano, subtle synths and TÉODORA’s striking vocals, the track sits with the complicated emotions that come with starting over somewhere new. It’s about the distance between the life you left behind and the one you’re working towards, and how success doesn’t necessarily make that distance feel any smaller.
“This song comes from the experience of moving far away from home, building a life somewhere new, and slowly realising how deeply you can miss the place, the people, and the feeling you once called home,” she explains. “It’s about homesickness, loneliness, growing up away from your roots, and that quiet pull inside you that sometimes makes you want to return to where everything began.”
That tension feels particularly close to the surface as TÉODORA builds her career across the UK and Romania. Leaving home was part of pursuing her ambitions, but performing on stages in both countries has brought questions of identity, belonging and connection into sharper focus. ‘call it home’ captures that in-between feeling: chasing the future while still feeling pulled towards the past.
Her sound draws on Balkan influences alongside soulful harmonies and shadowy electronic textures, giving the single an ethereal edge without losing its emotional directness. Rather than leaning on the vocal fireworks that have caught the attention of television audiences, TÉODORA lets the song breathe, keeping the focus on the story itself.
With ‘call it home’, she offers a glimpse beyond the televised performances and into the experiences shaping her songwriting. It’s a quietly powerful reminder that finding your place in the world isn’t always as simple as getting where you wanted to go.
