Ben Hauke takes Broken Beat into the future with new single ‘No Bruk On Splice’

London producer and live musician Ben Hauke is pushing Broken Beat into darker, faster territory with ‘No Bruk On Splice’, the latest cut from his forthcoming album Future Bruk, out 29 October via Woop Records.
Taking its name from the conspicuous absence of a Bruk category on sample platform Splice, the track brings a dose of humour to Hauke’s mission to take the genre somewhere new. Across ten tracks, Future Bruk strips back Broken Beat’s softer, jazzier edges in favour of raw drums, heavy bass, electro and restless club energy.
The album grew out of Hauke questioning where Broken Beat could go next. Inspired by Mark Mac’s Vintage Bruk, he set out to challenge the sound’s familiar conventions and build something that felt closer to his own tastes. “I knew there was something I rejected in Broken Beat. I didn’t like how soft and jazzy it was, so I thought, why not make what I wanted to hear?”
That attitude runs throughout the record, from the raw drum-and-bass pressure of ‘FYS’ to the eerie electronics of ‘SPOOOOKY’ featuring Sheiva. Nigerian artist Meso-IX joins him on ‘No Regulation’, while ‘Tuned Into Happy’ looks back on growing up in London, where youthful romance and casual violence often sat side by side.
Written largely between July and December 2025, the album emerged from a prolific period that saw Hauke make around 15 additional tracks before narrowing the selection to ten. The result is a record built around groove and movement, with enough variation to work both on a dancefloor and through headphones.
Hauke has spent more than a decade developing a sound across house, techno and Broken Beat. Away from his solo productions, he plays live in King Krule’s band and has toured extensively across the US and Europe. His work has featured on Fabric’s Broken Beat compilation and Mount Kimbie’s Fabric Presents, earning support from Mary Anne Hobbs, OK Williams, Jamz Supernova, Karizma and Lefto.
With Future Bruk, Hauke isn’t interested in keeping Broken Beat where it is. ‘No Bruk On Splice’ is another step towards a version of the genre that’s rougher around the edges, less predictable and firmly his own.
