Acid Mothers Temple, Horse Lords, Dora Morelenbaum and DJ collective O Ghettão lead the first announcement for the Azores festival, returning to São Miguel next March.

Tremor Festival has unveiled the first names for its 2027 edition, bringing a boundary-pushing mix of psychedelia, experimental electronics, jazz and global club sounds to São Miguel Island in the Azores from 16–20 March.

Leading the announcement are Japanese psych-rock veterans Acid Mothers Temple, whose expansive, improvisational sound spans cosmic rock, noise and experimental folk, alongside Baltimore instrumental quartet Horse Lords, known for their intricate polyrhythms, microtonal tunings and minimalist approach.

Elsewhere, Texas project Ak’chamel brings its surreal, desert-inspired psychedelia, while French outfit Edredon Sensible promises a more physical take on rhythmic experimentation, combining two saxophones and two drum kits into a hypnotic blend of jazz, batucada-inspired rhythms and repetition.

The line-up also looks beyond conventional genre boundaries. Finnish trio MUOVIPUSSI fuse fractured pop, rap, metal and punk, while Brazilian artist Dora Morelenbaum brings contemporary pop sensibilities to the harmonic traditions of Brazilian songwriting. Portuguese-Angolan pianist and composer Gisela Mabel adds another cross-cultural perspective, drawing together classical composition, jazz and African and Brazilian rhythms.

Dance music gets its own adventurous corner, with O Ghettão — featuring DJ Nigga Fox, DJ Danifox and DJ Firmeza — exploring the intersections of kuduro, afro-deep house and polyrhythmic experimentation. Mexican DJ and producer Rosa Pistola joins them, bringing an underground reggaeton sound shaped by dembow, cumbia, guaracha and Mexican tribal music.

The programme also highlights local voices and community-led creativity. Coro das Mulheres da Ilha, a choir bringing together women from different generations on São Miguel, connects Portuguese musical traditions with Azorean identity and contemporary women's experiences. Portuguese acts Femme Falafel, Escárnio and TRAVO round out the first wave, spanning irreverent hip-hop and disco, punk-inflected rock and heavy psychedelic sounds.

Known for its connection between music, art, landscape and community, Tremor continues to champion unexpected encounters and adventurous programming. With its first announcement already spanning continents and musical worlds, the 2027 edition looks set to deliver another distinctive island gathering.

Tremor Festival 2027 takes place 16–20 March on São Miguel Island, Azores. General passes have sold out, with weekly passes expected towards the end of 2026 and weekend passes due to go on sale in early 2027.
