The gothic rock trailblazer returns with a hypnotic, electronics-driven track, ahead of a sold-out London headline show and a major UK and European run supporting Interpol and Bloc Party.

Heartworms is back with ‘Guess I’m Stuck In The Dark’, a menacing new single produced by longtime collaborator Dan Carey and released via Speedy Wunderground / Distiller.

Premiering on BBC Radio 6 Music with Steve Lamacq, the track marks Heartworms’ first new release since her acclaimed 2025 debut album Glutton For Punishment. Twisting through sinister electronics, propulsive rhythms and a hypnotic, chant-led refrain, it finds Jojo Orme exploring a bouncier side of her dark, commanding sound.

“‘Guess I’m Stuck In The Dark’ is about how our minds begin to deceive us when we’re left in the dark,” Orme explains, “conjuring up fears that only appear in moments of insecurity. But also leaning into that, and trying to party alongside it.”

The single arrives as Heartworms prepares to headline a sold-out show at London’s Windmill Brixton on 28 October, before joining Interpol and Bloc Party for a run of UK and European dates. With Glutton For Punishment earning widespread critical acclaim for its sharp lyricism and collision of post-punk intensity and unsettling storytelling, the new track signals the beginning of an intriguing next chapter.

From shadowy atmospheres to danceable, driving rhythms, Heartworms continues to carve out a sound entirely her own — and there’s more to come.
