Sterling Press - Tracks That Shaped Our Sound

Emerging from the chaos of Spring 2020, Sterling Press seized the pandemic's solitude as an opportunity to dive headfirst into the realm of writing and recording. Fueled by a dynamic musicianship that thrives on pushing boundaries, this band has tirelessly crafted a collection of compelling singles, earning acclaim from heavyweights like Radio X, BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music, and Notion, the latter declaring them a potential "UK hit band long overdue."

Hailing from the musical melting pot of Hanwell, West London, these four musicians have been harmonizing since their youth, navigating the gritty stages of grassroots venues across the UK. Sterling Press is now on a rapid ascent, their unique sound and unwavering dedication catching the attention of audiences nationwide. As they ink a deal with Manchester-based Fear Records for their debut EP, their live prowess has already been showcased alongside acts like The Native, The Goa Express, and Spyres, not to mention commanding stages at festivals like Sound City and Sonic Wave. The rise of Sterling Press is not just a story; it's a sonic revolution in the making.

Processed Beats - Kasabian

We had been fans of Kasabian for years before hearing this tune and it baffles us as to how it's not one of their most popular songs. The bass and drum intro just had us hooked straight away and in our opinion, it has one of the best drum sounds we’ve ever heard. The relationship created between the rhythm section and the acoustic guitar was a massive influence while we wrote Doorbell. We put limitations on ourselves to not use too many instruments as it was important to have that live band feeling when hearing it.

 Superfood - Superfood

Superfood as a band have always had a massive impact on our production with this tune being a big reference for us when we are in the studio. The mix of sampled style drum beats and off kilter guitars is kinda what we were going for across the entire EP.

Boys Better - The Dandy Warhols

If you know us personally, you would know the love we have for this band. We’ve spent countless nights at home watching their documentary “Dig”. Feel like there's not too much to say about this track. It speaks for itself. Its a banger.

 5/4 - Gorillaz

An oldie but a goldie and one of our favorite bands growing up, we are constantly trying to recreate the sounds you hear on this album. The riff played on that gritty acoustic guitar is iconic. The kinda tune you blast in the car with your mates. I guess we are always wanting our songs to have that kind of energy about them. Damon Albarn’s use of electronic instruments in the Gorillaz project inspired us to delve into that world. We have never looked back and even implemented synths into our live set.

 Deceptacon - Le Tigre

The Punk-Dance element is something we aspire to incorporate into our music. We always liked the idea of our music being able to be played in clubs and use “Deceptacon” as inspiration. We blast this tune every week at our resident DJ set and it’s always received well and wanted the music we create to have that same effect. We wanted it to sound fat in a club environment and think it does so.
