Norman D. Loco share debut single “i want a beer” — London newcomers step into the spotlight

London four-piece Norman D. Loco announce their first official single, “i want a beer,” released today via Secret Friend — a hazy, shoegaze-leaning cut threaded with IDM textures and slowcore melancholy, made for the terminally online generation.

Formed while studying at Guildhall School of Music & Drama, the band brings together singer / guitarist Lucas “Salad” Armstead, Nic Dalgado (vocals / keys), Frankie James Elvis Hewett (bass) and Jacob Samuel Rees (drums). Coming from different musical disciplines, their sound resists easy labels — drifting between distorted dream-pop, glitchy electronics and intimate songwriting.

After circulating demos and works-in-progress on platforms like Nina Protocol, “i want a beer” marks their first proper single release. Speaking on the recording, Armstead says:

“It’s the first song we produced together as a band. I tried to write a Sean Baker movie in my head and this song is on the soundtrack.”

Already building momentum on London’s grassroots circuit, Norman D. Loco have been regular fixtures at The George Tavern, Shacklewell Arms and Jaguar Shoes — with a chance encounter at one of their shows even landing them a guest slot on NTS Radio.

With a debut single now out in the world and live momentum building, Norman D. Loco are one to watch.
