Leeds Band Household Dogs Blow Listeners Away With Debut EP 'To Be Adored'

We were introduced to something we've never quite stumbled on before in Leeds when we heard 'To Be Adored'. It's the Leeds-based six-piece Household Dogs debut EP, a broody and equally poignant body of work awash with glorious lyricism.

They employ the EP to summon a brave hypnotic new sound with their debut EP ‘To Be Adored’, released on March 5th 2022 via their own label Hundehütte. The album being self-released is just one of many aspects that make this EP as D-I-Y as it gets. The release of their debut EP follows the unstoppable success of its two singles ‘Jesus In Leather’ and ‘To Be Adored’ both of which gathered national and international attention with plays on BBC Radio 6 and BBC Introducing respectively, earning them the hottest ticket accolade from BBC Introducing DJ Emily Pilbeam.

As their debut EP, ‘To Be Adored’ sets a precedent. It marks a line in the sand over which Household Dogs

continue to tread. The four tracks promise to transport every listener, a promise it undoubtably fulfils. From

its taut beginnings, the EP draws you into its own enigmatic world. Each song is a sonic canvas onto which

purring poetic visions paint stark images. Household Dogs know who they are. The sound is honest, but the

songs are cryptic.

Over their short history they have become synonymous with their taut live performances in which intensity

and vulnerability collide, with notable performances at festivals such as Reading & Leeds, Live At Leeds and

Wild Paths. 2021 saw the band undertake their largest UK tour to date with shows including London,

Norwich, Glasgow and a sold-out Leeds headline, a testament to their widespread and ever-growing

following.

2022 has already played host to the success of singles ‘Jesus In Leather’ and ‘To Be Adored’ with their highly

anticipated debut EP ready for the digital universe. This year the outfit will again collaborate with Leeds label

Come Play With Me, releasing a split 7” with Slovakian post-punk outfit, 52 Hertz Whale. Expect another EP

and yet another UK tour later this year.

Household Dogs are Declan Newcombe on lead vocals and guitar, Matthew Fogg on bass, Alex Fletcher on

guitar, Ross Day on guitar, Alex Carrie on keyboards and percussion, Joshua Hagan on Drums. We cannot wait to get this guys in the studio for an interview at some point soon!
