ICA Unveils Exciting Programming and Renovation Completion




The Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) is thrilled to announce its forthcoming program while celebrating the successful completion of a transformative renovation project in collaboration with architectural firm Sanchez Benton. This ambitious endeavor has revitalized the ICA's exhibition and reception spaces, creating a more user-friendly environment that provides an engaging platform for both artists and audiences.


Sanchez Benton's innovative design seamlessly blends contemporary adjustments with the preservation of the institution's rich heritage. The revamped spaces now feature a spacious foyer, a new café, a reconfigured bookshop, and an accessible ramp leading to an enclosed gallery. These enhancements not only elevate the visitor experience but also serve as an ideal backdrop for showcasing the ICA's diverse program.


In the realm of music, the ICA continues its collaboration with d&b audiotechnik's 360° Soundscape system, ensuring an unparalleled audio experience for attendees. Renamed as STAGE, the ICA's Theatre reaffirms its commitment to hosting dynamic and experimental performances. The partnership with d&b audiotechnik aims to immerse the audience in the performance, creating unforgettable moments that linger long after the final applause.


Among the upcoming events, OpenAREA: Flock Together promises an immersive musical experience on February 21, featuring performances by Coby Sey, TONE, Roxanne Tataei, and MA.MOYO. The ICA STAGE will also host an array of talented artists, including George Riley, caroline, GAIKA, and Isobel Waller-Bridge, offering diverse and captivating performances across various genres.


In the realm of exhibitions, the ICA presents Aria Dean's Abattoir, exploring the intersection of modernity and death through film installations and object-based presentations. Additionally, the Artist Film & Moving Image series features a UK premiere of Colectivo Los Ingrávidos's groundbreaking works and the world premiere of Opera Omnia, a film by Valentin Noujaïm and Space Afrika.



Other highlights include the UK premiere of Humour in the Water Coolant, a play by Olivia Erlanger, and the continuation of the Off-Circuit series, spotlighting new films pushing the boundaries of the medium.The ICA remains committed to fostering dialogue and learning through a series of talks, workshops, and reading groups. Notable events include Richard Billingham's book launch for Ray's a Laugh and a symposium titled Nervous Systems, examining systems on the brink of collapse.


Furthermore, the ICA introduces the Creative Youth Forum, providing young people aged 16-30 with paid leadership opportunities to shape the future of the arts. With a diverse and dynamic program, the ICA continues to be a vital hub for contemporary culture, offering innovative experiences that challenge, inspire, and engage audiences.
