Greg Mendez Shares New Single ‘No Evil’ Ahead of Beauty Land, Announces 2026 Tour

Greg Mendez has shared ‘No Evil’, the final preview of his forthcoming album Beauty Land, landing May 29 via Dead Oceans, alongside a surreal new video and news of 2026 tour dates. Sparse, uncanny and quietly devastating, No Evil distils everything that has made Mendez one of the most revered songwriters operating in indie rock right now. Clocking in with his trademark emotional precision, the new single arrives with a striking video directed by longtime collaborator Douglas Dulgarian (They Are Gutting A Body Of Water), weaving CPR dummies, parking signs and drifting Philadelphia street scenes into something eerie, intimate and disarmingly human.

“A lot of the time I feel locked inside my own head, or maybe it’s inside all these screens,” Mendez says of the song. “This song isn’t about that… it’s more coincidental. Like how a landscape painting can show the sky without being ‘about’ the sky.”

It’s a fitting final glimpse into Beauty Land, an album already tipped as one of spring’s most anticipated and one that finds Mendez pushing further into the fragile brilliance hinted at on his breakthrough 2023 self-titled record. Recorded largely direct to tape and mostly alone in his makeshift Philadelphia home studio, the album captures him at his most distilled — balancing grief, addiction, tenderness and dark humour with startling grace.

If his previous work introduced Mendez as a cult songwriter’s songwriter, Beauty Land feels poised to widen that world considerably. Across shimmering guitars, worn-in pop melodies and his unmistakably plaintive voice, the record reportedly moves with the intimacy of confession but the scale of something mythic — imperfect, forgiving and painfully alive.

Following praise from Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, NPR, Stereogum, Paste and more, Mendez has steadily built a reputation for making the smallest moments feel seismic. No Evil only deepens that. Alongside the single, Mendez has also announced a run of North American 2026 tour dates, with UK shows expected later this year.

With Beauty Land just weeks away, No Evil lands as one last haunting transmission before the full picture comes into focus — and further proof Greg Mendez is operating in a lane entirely his own.

‘No Evil’ is out now. Beauty Land lands May 29 via Dead Oceans.
