Darius Rucker Returns With Hopeful New Single ‘I Believe’
Darius Rucker is back — and this time, he’s choosing hope.
The three-time GRAMMY Award winner and multi-Diamond-certified country star has unveiled ‘I Believe’, his first new music since 2023’s acclaimed Carolyn’s Boy. Released via MCA / Snakefarm in the UK, the new track is a deeply personal statement about holding onto love, truth and hope when everything around you feels uncertain.
Written by Rucker alongside Eric Paslay, Wayne Hector and producer Steve Robson, ‘I Believe’ pairs an uplifting message with a distinctly personal sense of conviction. Rather than ignoring the uncertainty of the moment, the song confronts it head-on — ultimately landing on the belief that there is still something worth fighting for.
Rucker recently described the track as “my love letter to America”, adding: “The way the world is, where we are right now – I believe in us.”
The song also marks another chapter in a career that has crossed generations and genres. Rucker first rose to global prominence as the frontman of Hootie & the Blowfish before reinventing himself as a country solo artist, earning four No. 1 country albums and 10 No. 1 singles at country radio.
His 2014 version of ‘Wagon Wheel’ became one of country music’s biggest modern hits, earning Diamond certification and Rucker his third GRAMMY Award.
Now, with ‘I Believe’, Rucker is turning his attention away from looking back and towards something more immediate: finding reasons to keep believing.
“I think we all have moments when we wonder if things are ever going to get better,” Rucker says. “For me, this song is about remembering what you believe in when everything around you makes that hard.”
