Cherry Chola & Chico Sonido Announce New Album El Cuarto Rosa, Share High-BPM Heater ‘The Pink Room’
Cherry Chola and Chico Sonido are turning up the heat.
The Venezuelan-Australian artist and Mexican producer have announced their new collaborative album, El Cuarto Rosa, arriving October 30 via dottidot, alongside its latest single, ‘The Pink Room’ — a metallic, high-BPM rush of hardstyle, trance and Latin club energy.
Following previously released singles ‘Cristalina’ and ‘Perla’, the new track finds the pair pushing their shared sound further into rave territory. Chico Sonido’s propulsive production provides the foundation for Cherry Chola’s glossy, bilingual vocals, resulting in a track that feels both euphoric and slightly unhinged.
At its heart, ‘The Pink Room’ is about freedom — and the complicated spaces where that freedom can exist. For Cherry Chola, the song draws on both the pink bedrooms she has lived in and a club where she once worked: spaces that offered room to dream and express herself, but could also feel restrictive.
“Both the club & my bedroom feel like places where I’m the most free to dream and be myself, but at the same time both can feel like a cage,” says Cherry Chola. “The song is about finally stepping out into the unknown, & leaving behind anything that dims your light.”
That tension between pleasure, freedom and vulnerability runs throughout El Cuarto Rosa. The 13-track album is described as a collection of diary entries charting love, self-discovery and the search for beauty in life’s contradictions.
The project took shape following a dreamstate trip to Baja California, with Cherry Chola and Chico Sonido spending the subsequent two years developing a shared musical language. The result is an album designed to embrace emotional duality — finding light without pretending the darkness isn't there.
Sonically, it brings together the worlds both artists have been carving out independently. Cherry Chola has built a hyper-feminine universe around reggaeton, Latin-urban rhythms and glittering electronica, while Chico Sonido has become a key figure in experimental Latin club music through his production work, Calle Fresa label and Dublab radio show.
Now, on ‘The Pink Room’, those worlds collide at full speed.
“It has a sweet trancey vibe to it reminiscent of peak rave era,” says Chico Sonido. “It also reminds me of my teenage years having the most fun.”
With its mix of rave euphoria, Latin rhythms, emotional candour and maximalist pop instincts, El Cuarto Rosa looks set to be a vivid next chapter for two artists with little interest in staying inside the lines.
