Amalia Davinder embraces heartbreak and healing on dreamy new single “Cellotape”

Rising dream-pop singer-songwriter Amalia Davinder returns with her beautifully understated new single, “Cellotape,” a poignant meditation on heartbreak, self-discovery and finding clarity after love has unravelled.

Out now via APOLLO Distribution, “Cellotape” sees the UK artist continue to refine her distinctive blend of dream-pop, indie and folk, pairing warm acoustic textures with intimate, confessional songwriting inspired by the alternative sounds of the '90s.

Written from personal experience, the track explores the emotional aftermath of a relationship, charting the difficult journey from grief and betrayal to self-realisation. Rather than dwelling solely on loss, “Cellotape” finds strength in hindsight, capturing the moment when painful memories begin to make sense.

"This song is about losing a relationship and realising in retrospect that you were not ever truly listened to in this relationship. It's about the grief and betrayal of losing the relationship, and the anger of realising you were not treated with respect," Davinder explains.

Driven by expressive vocals and delicate acoustic instrumentation, “Cellotape” unfolds with quiet confidence, allowing its emotional weight to emerge naturally. Stripped back yet richly evocative, the single places Amalia's heartfelt lyricism firmly at its centre, showcasing a songwriter unafraid to transform deeply personal experiences into something universally resonant.

Drawing influence from artists including Cocteau Twins, Fiona Apple and Portishead, Amalia Davinder has steadily carved out her own space within the UK's independent music scene. Her atmospheric sound has already earned support from BBC Introducing, while previous single “Headrush” landed on Spotify's Fresh Finds Pop playlist, signalling her growing reputation as one of the country's most exciting emerging voices.

With “Cellotape,” Amalia Davinder delivers her most vulnerable and emotionally affecting release to date—a tender yet quietly powerful reminder that sometimes the clearest understanding only arrives after the dust has settled.
