Tribe Records are opening their doors once again
As of yesterday (June 15th), non-essential shops — from clothing stores and electronics retailers to auction houses and photography studios — will be allowed to reopen, as long as they adhere to Covid-19 safety measures. As the Government continues to ease its lockdown restrictions, more and more of the cityl is opening up for us all to enjoy once again. Record shops, a beloved part of London’s music community, are included among the sites allowed to welcome customers under these new guidelines. In conjunction with new guidelines Tribe Records will be opening their doors for the first time in 3 months this week. The record shop situated in Kirkgate has long been one of our favourites, specialising in house, techno, electro, dub, reggae, global beats and more.
When announcing the re-opening of the store online owner & founder of Tribe Records Simon Scott said "we’ll be operating some very strict hygiene standards, these include: limiting the shop to three customers at a time, stocking mandatory gloves and facemasks, sanitising all contact points regularly throughout the day and encouraging people to listen on their own headphones/through the shop system where this is possible."
A range of local Leeds talent have shown their support including Zoe Pea, Dubrunner & Adam Pits who's three latest records you can get in the store. The music community have come together countless times during thIS pandemic, learning to listen, purchase and perform music in ways that were previously alien to them, whether it be fundraising live-streams or buying records online for the first from their most cherished stores. Amongst all of this a return to record stores is massively welcomed, as for many diggers their really is no better way to find new music than at their local record stores.
